Biography
Following completion of a BA Photography Degree at Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham, I started my Career as a photographer in 1992. In 1994 I was offered a bursary by the Royal Photographic Society in conjunction with David & Charles Publishers to spend a year photographing The Hillier Gardener’s Guide to Trees & Shrubs, this resulted in me specialising photographing Plants & Gardens.
Directly after the completion of this project I was offered work from Readers Digest who were producing their New Garden Plants & Flowers Encyclopaedia; I worked alongside other photographers on this project for a little under two years which took me through to 1997. Since then I have been the principal photographer on 15 specific Gardening books of which The Gardener’s Guide to Fritillaries by Kevin Pratt & Michael Jefferson-Brown is still my favourite. I have had photographs in many other UK and foreign books and gardening magazines. My photographs have also been used on web sites and for promotional literature, sales catalogues, guide books and postcards. I also regularly conduct plant and garden photography workshops. In 2002 I organised the Garden Photographers exhibition, which was composed of a single image from 67 international photographers.
